24/7 Tourist Information Hotline: (1800) 736 2000
The division has a multitide of channels where our customers (Singaporeans, residents, and tourists) provide their feedback on various issues relating to tourism.
Their feedback (suggestions, comments, complaints, and compliments) are compiled and sorted in a database so that trends can be identified and ideas can be shared with the industry.
In September 2003, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) announced that it was taking a tougher stand against errant retailers who repeatedly subject tourists to their unethical retail practices. STB received over 800 complaints from the 8 million tourists that visited Singapore in 2002, of which more than 50% were retail-related, with a high proportion of cases coming from the electronic goods sector.
A total of nine retailers who received at least 3 complaints in the period July - September 2003 were listed in The Official Map of Singapore, The Real Destination Singapore brochure and the Visit Singapore website at www.visitsingapore.com on 1 October 2003. Information on errant retailers is also available at the Singapore Visitors Centres and through the Touristline at (65) 1800 734 2000.
Tourists who encounter an unpleasant experience during their stay here can lodge their complaint with the STB by calling the Hotline at 1800-736 3366 (toll-free in Singapore). For some form of redress within 24 hours (depending on the complexity of the claim), you can also lodge your complaint directly with the Small Claims Tribunals (SCT) at No 1 Havelock Square, 1st level Subordinate Courts, Singapore 059724. An administrative fee of S$10 is payable to the SCT. More information is available at the SCT website.
