The International Advisory Council for Tourism (IACT) was established in 1999 to provide insights and perspectives on trends and developments within and outside the tourism sector.
Comprising prominent leaders of International organisations from diverse sectors around the world, the IACT members are appointed on a three-year term. The Council meets once every 18-months in Singapore.
The IACT met on 30 and 31 March 2006 to discuss strategies to transform Singapore’s tourism landscape to enhance the destination’s appeal to the leisure segment; its proposed positioning of Singapore as a premier Business Travel, Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions and Exhibitions (BTMICE) city in Asia as well as upcoming trends and opportunities that it could explore. The STB will review the key recommendations of the IACT and work closely with its industry partners and relevant government agencies to ensure that the tourism sector remains a key contributor to Singapore's economy.
